two extremes in one photo... the promise of spring in the foreground and the icy alpine clouds circling the mountain... a lovely combination...
is this photo made in slovenia or is this italy or austria?

these are all slovenian alps, bart. they may not be as high as those in italy or austria (or switzerland or france for that matter) but are no less beautiful.
the photo was taken from a valley called Kamniška Bistrica where a river of the same name springs. the surrounding mountains are mostly between 2000 and 2500 m high
Very very beautiful Polona. There is something so awe-inspiring about mountains. Superb photo
That peak is begging me to see shapes in it - I'm working up to a post about our need to see order and meaning in all things.

That is an awfully nice picture. The snowy shape almost resembles a sculpture.
janice: thank you. i was stricken by the contrast of the greening wood and the snow on top...
jem: yes, the rock formation of this peak is unusual for the type of mountains we have (limestone) and there are shapes to be found in there. (i suffer from the same disease) :)
monique: indeed, and it's slightly different from the adjacent meountains. will post a slightly broader view of these mountains
