A mantis, looks like.
You take wonderful closeups; but first freeze must be close upon your land as it is upon mine. What to capture then?

Golly but they have a creepy factor of 18 thousand. (shivers)

I've never had the pleasure of seeing one of these in person - do they bite? They are a very fascinating insect to say the least. Wonderful macro Polona

goatman: yes it is a mantis.
this photo has a lot of noise but thank you noneheless.
ewll, we can expect morning frost soon but hope the days stay warmer for some time. but there's always something to capture, no? buildings don't go away for example :o)

hat: oh, i think they are rather cute (not)

floots: i'll make sure he doesn't gatecrash our little party :)

jem: who knows, perhaps he is

kieselsnack: oh, males have been known for losing their heads quite often but not in such a literal sense.

janice: well, they are killing machines and lethal to smaller insects but i wouldn't want to try them on me.
thank you, janice.
