How close were you really? I've run from a few of these fellas. When one invades their territory, they generally don't just stand around posing for pictures.
Oh my gosh is that a tick? Poor thing she really has no way of getting rid of it either. Great capture!

thank you all. well, i was standing pretty close to the bovine but there was electrified wire between us so i was not in any danger :o)the thing under her eye is a fly (two, actually); they were buzzing around the beasts all the time

Stunning. Those eyelashes. For so-called simple beasts they look so knowing.
